Barberitos Johnson City Gives Away Free Food and Raises $7000

(Athens, Ga.) Barberitos Johnson City served free food for a great cause on May 19th. Barberitos partnered with Rise Up, a local non-profit that works with under resourced kids in the Johnson City area. The May 19th event stemmed from Rise Up! needing a new bus to transport kids from their school to Rise Up’s facility in east Johnson City.

Customers on May 19th received a free meal and the opportunity to donate towards “Buying the Bus.” The event was a huge success. The bus was bought outright and an additional $7,000 was raised for the organization. In addition to the free food, there was an inflatable bounce house, live music, and free frozen yogurt from Menchies for all of the donors.

Andy Osbolt, the owner of the Johnson City Barberitos, said, “It is extremely important to myself, my family, and the employees of Barberitos that we give back to the community and help those in need. I’m thankful that we were able to help such a wonderful organization. ”

Each menu offering is prepared at the time it is ordered right in front of the customer. Barberitos “7 Under 7” menu features seven items each under seven grams of fat including a mini grilled chicken burrito, jerk fish taco, and a variety of salads.
Barberitos provides full-service catering ranging from burrito boxed lunches to taco, salad, nacho, or fajita bar that can be customized to serve a few to several hundred people.
