Barberitos is Proud Sponsor of Dine Out For Kids
August 17, 2010
Communities in Schools (CIS), in partnership with the Georgia Restaurant Association, hosts an annual event, Dine Out For Kids, to raise money to provide more programs and services to students and their families based on individual and community needs. The five Athens, Georgia area Barberitos are proud participants and sponsors.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday, August 19 and many area restaurants will designate a percentage of gross sales to benefit the CIS programs. At 11:00 am, a live radio remote will broadcast from the Eastside Athens Barberitos to promote the event. The remote will broadcast until 2:00 pm and serve to promote the event on the airwaves.
“Dine Out For Kids is an easy and affordable way to give,” says organizer Kelly Thomas. “Helping kids be successful in school is important because more students graduating strengthens Georgia’s economy, increases tax revenues, cuts unemployment, and reduces social, health care, incarceration and criminal justice costs. Community In Schools of Georgia’s network of local affiliates are in the trenches providing and coordinating programs and services for students to increase school success and graduation rates.
CIS focuses on key program areas in Georgia, including: mentoring, parent education, performance learning centers, literacy, technology and bridging the digital divide, and youth leadership development. CIS is the nations’ leading community-based organization helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life. CIS of Georgia provides training, technical assistance, and funding to locally managed programs to help young people succeed.
